Accountant / Financial Controller
We're looking for an experienced Accountant / Financial Controller who enjoys taking ownership, providing commercial insight and building robust financial processes that support a fast-moving, innovative business.
Location: This is an office-based role located in Mulbarton, Norfolk.

- Designing multi-storey structures that can be delivered to site 'flat packed' without the need for craneage to erect them.
- Designing zero-carbon steel foundations through the utilisation of repurposed steel.
- Investing in research and development of bespoke structural engineering, manufacturing and construction solutions.
- Applying structural engineering from first principles to deliver some of the lightest steel structures in the UK, measured by steel weight per square metre of floor area.

The Role
This is a key position within our business, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of the finance function and work closely with the senior leadership team to support informed commercial decision-making. We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to manage day-to-day financial operations as they are analysing performance, forecasting future growth and helping drive the business forward.
You'll play an integral role in ensuring the financial health of the business through accurate reporting, strong financial controls and proactive commercial insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full finance function, including bank and cash reconciliations, purchase and sales ledgers, balance sheet management, payment runs, prepayments, accruals and month-end processing.
- Produce accurate and insightful weekly trading reports, monthly management accounts and quarterly financial reporting to support business performance.
- Prepare short and medium-term cash flow forecasts, including consolidated group summaries, to support strategic planning and operational decision-making.
- Manage the payroll function, overseeing hourly paid, salaried and fixed-term contract employees, pension administration, holiday accruals and RTI submissions to HMRC.
- Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns, ensuring compliance while maximising VAT efficiencies, including exempt and mixed-use calculations.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, producing detailed income and expenditure forecasts using historic performance, commercial analysis and statistical trends.
- Ensure strong financial governance, continually reviewing and improving financial systems, controls and reporting processes.
- Support Directors with commercial analysis, business planning and strategic financial decision-making across the Group.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- An experienced Accountant or Financial Controller with strong all-round financial management experience.
- Commercially minded and able to translate financial information into meaningful business insight.
- Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Comfortable working independently while building strong relationships across the business.
- Confident managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced and growing organisation.
- Experienced in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with excellent analytical skills.
- Ideally AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or qualified by experience with a proven track record).

Salary range is indicative. We are open to candidates at different levels of experience and will tailor the package accordingly. An excellent salary and benefits package is available for the right individual.
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
