The Position:
James Walker and Co Ltd are looking to recruit 3 Quality Engineers to support the Quality Team at the manufacturing site in Cockermouth, Cumbria. This is a shift role, working 3 shifts. Mornings, backs and nights.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage operation Quality communication and feedback sessions.
- Responsible for a month on month reject reduction across all business units.
- Conduct compliance checks at press for process and product compliance.
- Ensure accuracy of reject data by ensuring qty and defects codes are correct.
- Oversee process capability studies on agreed orders as necessary.
- Carry out process and compliance audits supporting site audit schedule.
- Co-ordinate Material Review Board (MRB) on shift across necessary business units.
- Facilitate problem solving activity on live orders as necessary. (3C/5Y)
- Manage customer and internal NC’s by working closely with Quality Assurance and Operational teams.
- Ensure Quality dashboards are maintained daily, Quality KPIs and actions to be kept live.

- Excellent IT Skills and proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
- Analytical/logical thinker.
- Self-motivated to achieve targets.
- Excellent presentation skills.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- Green or black belt certified.
- Statistical process control and process capability champion.
- Proven experience of working in a Quality environment, min 2 years Quality Engineering experience.
- Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems.
- Proficient in the use of quality core tools around 8D/ A3/ RCA/ 5 Why/ Fishbone etc.
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001/ISO19443 would be an advantage.
