Full job description

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Planning

· Work with Line Manager and the team to develop child centred individual and operational plans.

Delivery

· Advocate for every child who displays or diagnosed with any special educational needs or disabilities.

· Organise meetings and liaise with families and professionals to improve outcomes for children.

· Liaise with and support parents/carers and other family members.

· Facilitate in house SEND training to support team knowledge on how to support children with SEND.

· Support the team with the early identification and intervention for children with emerging additional needs and give physical, emotional and intellectual guidance as appropriate.

· Act on behalf of the child in all aspects of their health, safety, welfare and learning and development.

Engagement

· Lead on communications with families and professionals.

· Attend networking meetings to maintain a fantastic working knowledge of SEND and SEND processes.

· Build good relationships with external agencies and work with them on behalf of the child.

· Support the team with parental partnerships when working with children or families with additional support needs.

Compliance and quality

· Expand knowledge by attending training courses around specific areas of SEND.

· Identify training that would benefit the team.

· Keep up to date with all relevant developments relating to extra support or funding for children with additional support needs, where and how to access this.

Monitoring and evaluation

· Support the team to complete paperwork needed for referrals and ensure it is up to date and reviewed regularly.

· Complete EHCPs within the given deadlines and ensure targets are implemented.

Finance and funding

· Explore all available funding and support options to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.

· Engage with the Local Authority to ensure funding applications are made on time.

· Work with key people and senior management to ensure that any allocated funding is spent in the right areas to improve outcomes.

The above is a non-exhaustive list of duties and you are expected to undertake any other duties as requested by your Line Manager. The organisation reserves the right to amend the job description in line with the changing demands of the business.
