As part of continued growth, Contel is expanding its in-house production capability to better support its engineering and field service teams.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assembly Operator to join our team in a newly created role. This position will play a key part in supporting our Field Service Engineers by assembling high-quality wiring harnesses, cable looms, and preparing complete installation kits for deployment in vehicle-based technology systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on electrical assembly experience who enjoys working in a practical, production-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble wiring harnesses and cable looms to required specifications
Prepare and kit all components for installation by Field Service Engineers
Carry out crimping, heat shrinking, and general cable preparation tasks
Interpret basic wiring diagrams and assembly instructions
Ensure all assemblies meet quality and safety standards
Perform visual inspections and basic testing of assembled products
Maintain accurate records of work completed
Support stock control and organisation of components
Work closely with engineering and operations teams to meet project requirements

Skills & Experience

Experience in electrical or mechanical assembly is advantageous
Familiarity with crimping tools, heat shrink applications, and cable termination
Basic understanding of wiring and electrical components
Ability to read and follow technical drawings or instructions
Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
Good manual dexterity and practical skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable (but not essential)

Experience assembling harnesses or cable looms
Background in automotive, telematics, or electronics environments
Experience preparing installation kits or working in a production setting
Basic electrical testing knowledge
