Operations & Compliance Coordinator - Waste Management AVA Waste Management Group Ltd | Full-time, permanent | £32,000-£40,000 DOE
The role
AVA Waste Management Group is a growing waste and transport business looking for an experienced Operations & Compliance Coordinator to take ownership of the operational, compliance, and administrative functions that keep the business running correctly.
This is a broad, hands-on role requiring genuine experience across transport compliance, waste regulation, finance administration, and operational coordination. You will be expected to manage processes independently, maintain audit-ready documentation, and proactively identify and resolve issues without waiting to be directed.
Responsibilities
- Managing transport compliance documentation: operator licence records, driver files, tachograph administration, vehicle maintenance records, and DVSA requirements
- Maintaining waste documentation to Environment Agency standards, including Waste Transfer Notes, duty of care records, and hazardous waste consignment notes where applicable
- Ensuring audit-ready documentation is maintained across operations, health and safety, and finance at all times
- Finance administration: invoice processing, debtor management, payroll preparation, and day-to-day use of QuickBooks
- Managing internal systems and reporting, identifying process gaps and implementing improvements
- Health and safety record keeping: risk assessments, COSHH documentation, incident logs, and compliance schedules
- Supporting management with operational planning, contractor records, and regulatory deadlines
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in a transport, logistics, waste, or similarly regulated operational environment
- Working knowledge of transport operator compliance or waste management regulations - EA, DVSA, or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation and audit trails
- Ability to manage a varied workload and competing deadlines independently
- Confident with spreadsheets, reporting systems, and finance software - QuickBooks experience is a strong advantage
- Professional communication skills and the ability to work across functions
