Job Description
Vital Synergy is seeking a skilled Pipe Fitter Welder to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the installation and commissioning of pipework systems within live commercial environments such as NHS facilities, schools, and tier 1 contracts. You will be responsible for delivering complex piping projects, reading and interpreting CAD drawings, and fabricating supply and return pipework, valves, bespoke manifolds, and plant room assemblies. Strong knowledge of welding techniques (TIG, MIG, MMA, orbital) and materials is essential for meeting project specifications and ensuring system integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and fabricate pipework systems according to CAD drawings and project documentation within healthcare and educational settings.
- Select appropriate welding techniques and materials to ensure quality and compliance.
- Collaborate with Estates, clinical users, contractors, and other trades to minimize disruption and uphold safety standards.
- Perform pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, and non-destructive examination of welds.
- Manage documentation, including updating as-built/red-line drawings, commissioning records, and asset schedules.
- Support quality assurance processes, resolve snags/defects, and prepare systems for handover.
- Work on low-voltage control wiring, integrating BMS connections, and ensuring electrical safety compliance.
- Handle logistics, material management, and coordinate with specialist vendors and subcontractors.
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain strict adherence to CDM, RAMS, permits to work, POWRA, and safe systems of work.
- Apply mechanical and welding standards (BS EN ISO, ASME, SFG20) and sector-specific guidance for healthcare and education environments.
- Support site fire strategy, infection prevention controls, and Estates procedures.
- Participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks, ensuring all workmanship inspections and QA are completed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive practical experience in pipe welding and fabrication in NHS, educational, large scale plant rooms and public sector environments.
- Strong ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and specifications.
- Relevant welding qualifications and certifications (e.g., CSCS, JIB-PMES or equivalent).
- Comprehensive knowledge of welding and pipework standards, site/client requirements, and sector guidance (HTM/HBN, BB101).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with Estates teams, clinical stakeholders, project teams, and contractors.
