We have a vacancy for a kennel hand/receptionist to work in our busy boarding kennels, cattery and pet food shop, situated in Thorrington, just outside Colchester.
Working as part of a friendly team, you will be responsible for providing a high standard of care to the dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, chickens, parrots and other small animals who board with us. At peak times you will be working as part of a team caring for around 100 animals.
Standard hours of work are 40 hours per week, 07:30-16:30, (07:30 - 17:00 when working on Reception) with 1 hr for lunch, including alternate weekends. Although preference will be given to applicants with prior experience of receptionist duties and/or animal care in a commercial or charitable setting, full training will be given.
Reception duties will involve making bookings for customers, checking pets in and out, sales of pet food and treats and stock control. The post requires a good standard of written and spoken English and you should be competent at basic maths. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
PLEASE NOTE: The work in the kennels is physically demanding and at busy times can be quite pressured.
Due to the rural location of the kennels, your own transport is essential as public transport options are limited.
