About the role
Abbey Field Pharmacy is looking for a motivated second pharmacist to work alongside our Independent Prescribing Superintendent Pharmacist, supporting the delivery of a growing range of clinical services.
The role is up to 24 hours per week, and we're happy to be flexible on the exact pattern — for example, up to 2.5 days, or one full day plus two to three part days. This makes it ideal for pharmacists returning to practice, those looking for hours that fit around school times, or recently qualified pharmacists keen to gain valuable experience alongside an experienced team.
Pay and benefits are competitive and will reflect your experience and the level of responsibility you take on once the role is defined together. We'd genuinely welcome an informal chat with anyone interested to explore what might work.
Where you'll work
The pharmacy sits within Abbey Field Health Centre, and we have an excellent working relationship with the GP practice. Strong two-way referral pathways mean we're closely integrated with the wider healthcare team, enabling great patient care and new ways of working.
We dispense around 12,000 items per month and are equipped with the latest automation, including a dispensing robot and a first-of-its-kind MedPoint automated 24/7 collection point — freeing our team to focus on what they do best: patient care. Our team includes a full-time Accredited Checking Technician, and we use barcode technology to improve safety while reducing the time pharmacists spend on accuracy checking, so you can concentrate on delivering services.
Growing clinical services
We're actively expanding our clinical offering, particularly private services such as weight management, ear wax removal, vitamin D, and diagnostic screening, alongside our established travel health service and NHS-commissioned services. This range will keep growing as our Superintendent's Independent Prescribing qualification opens up new opportunities to redefine community pharmacy's role in local patient care.
Abbey Field Pharmacy is part of the innovative, award-winning Wellbeing Pharmacies Group, with four other branches across England and Scotland. Find out more at abbeyfieldpharmacy.co.uk.
