Job Title: Semi-Senior / Senior Accountant

Location: Leeds
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Firm

We are a small, established firm of Chartered Accountants based in Leeds, providing a high-quality, personalised service to a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses and individuals. As a non-audit registered firm, our focus is on accounts preparation, tax compliance, and advisory services.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a capable and motivated Semi-Senior or Senior Accountant to join our team.

The Role

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with recent experience working within an accountancy practice. You will be responsible for preparing accounts and supporting clients across a range of sectors, working closely with senior staff and directors.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
Preparation of management accounts where required
Corporate tax computations and returns
VAT return review and submissions
Liaising directly with clients to gather information and resolve queries
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records
Supporting junior staff (for senior-level candidates)
Assisting with ad hoc advisory and project work

Essential Requirements

Recent experience working in an accountancy practice environment (essential)
Proven experience in accounts preparation for a variety of business types
Strong working knowledge of accounting standards and compliance requirements
Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar)
Good understanding of tax compliance (corporate and/or personal)
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Strong communication skills and ability to deal directly with clients

Desirable

AAT qualified / part-qualified or ACA part or fully qualified
Experience reviewing work (for senior applicants)
Ability to work independently and manage a workload
