Basketball & Multi-Sports Coach
Durham City Basketball Club and Little Ballers NE are growing quickly, and we’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable coaches to join our expanding coaching team.
This is a paid, flexible coaching opportunity for people who want genuine hands-on experience working with children while developing their skills as a coach.
We’re particularly interested in Sports Coaching/PE students and graduates, aspiring coaches and existing coaches who want to build their experience. You don’t need to arrive as the finished article — enthusiasm, reliability, the ability to connect with children and a willingness to learn are extremely important to us.
The role
You could be involved in delivering:
- Little Ballers early-years sessions
- Primary-age multi-skills and basketball
- School and community coaching
- Durham City Basketball Club junior sessions
- Holiday camps and additional programmes
Depending on experience, coaches may initially support an experienced lead coach before progressing towards independently planning and delivering sessions.
What we’re looking for
- Experience or a background in basketball and/or multi-skills sports coaching
- Confident and enthusiastic when working with children
- Reliable, organised and professional
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to learn and develop
- Ability to create a fun, positive and inclusive coaching environment
- Full driving licence/access to transport, due to coaching taking place across different venues
Previous coaching qualifications and experience working with children are desirable, but we are equally interested in applicants with the right potential and attitude.

As our programmes continue to grow, there will also be opportunities for successful coaches to increase their hours, take greater responsibility and progress into lead coaching roles.
