JOB TITLE: PRODUCTION PLANNING & CONTROL CO-ORDINATOR
REPORTING TO: HEAD OF PRODUCTION
SALARY: £38,000-£45,000
JOB PURPOSE: The Production Planning & Control Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of work through the entire manufacturing process. This includes verifying Bills of Materials (BOMs), developing and maintaining detailed production schedules, monitoring shop floor progress, identifying deviations from plan, and supporting continuous improvements to production efficiency.
The role is critical to ensuring that every department works to an achievable schedule so that components arrive at final assembly on time and customer delivery commitments are met.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules across all manufacturing departments.
Allocate work based on standard labour hours and available production capacity.
Sequence work to maximise overall factory productivity while ensuring assembly requirements are met.
Adjust schedules as priorities or production conditions change.
BOM Verification
Review and verify Bills of Materials prior to production release.
Ensure manufacturing information is accurate and complete.
Identify and resolve BOM discrepancies before production commences.
Shop Floor Coordination
Conduct scheduled production reviews with each manufacturing department at least twice daily.
Monitor actual progress against the production schedule.
Identify delays, bottlenecks and constraints.
Update production schedules based on actual progress.
Production Control
Measure adherence to the production schedule.
Investigate reasons for missed completion dates.
Escalate issues that impact downstream operations.
Ensure completed work is released to the next manufacturing stage without unnecessary delay.
Continuous Improvement
Maintain and update standard labour hours as manufacturing efficiencies improve.
Work with department supervisors to improve planning accuracy.
Identify opportunities to improve production flow, scheduling methods and overall factory performance.
Cross-Functional Communication
Liaise daily with:

Ensure all stakeholders understand current production priorities.
Manufacturing Flow
The Production Planning & Control Coordinator will manage the flow of work through the following stages:
Steel Cutting
Folding
Fabrication
Welding
Blasting
Painting
Component Availability
Final Assembly
The role is responsible for ensuring each stage is completed in accordance with schedule so that downstream operations are not delayed.

Qualifications and Experience
Experience in manufacturing planning or production scheduling
Strong organisational and analytical skills
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials
Excellent communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
Pay: £38,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
