Full job description

Business Development Manager

Key Aims

To assist in the promotion of Cornish Lime’s portfolio of products and brands including Cornerstone Renders, Plasters and Putty’s and Beeck Mineral Paint throughout the southwest and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Management: Act as the primary contact for our existing UK trade distributor network, ensuring they have the correct stock, providing staff training, introducing and tracking sales initiatives and distributing POS materials.

Business Development: Proactively identify and secure new trade accounts to expand our national distribution footprint.

Specification Sales: Develop relationships with target Architect Practices, Specifiers, and Surveyors to get our products written into project specifications, highlighting their eco-credentials and durability.

Contractor Engagement: Build "on-the-ground" demand by developing relationships with contractors and building conservators to increase the awareness of our innovative and traditional range of products.

Market Insight: Track competitor activity and identify emerging trends in the UK construction and renovation sectors to our sales strategy.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience: You will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in field sales within the building trade or related industries with the ability to demonstrate your success to date.

Communication: You will be an effective communicator at all levels, equally comfortable speaking with senior decision makers, specifiers, merchant sales staff and specialist applicators.

Drive: You will need a "hunter" mindset for new business, alongside the "farmer" skills required to deliver consistent new business growth whilst having the ability to act under your own initiative.

Technical Knowledge: You will have the capability of learning about our broad range of products and have the ability to explain their specification and qualities to technical audiences.

Networking: A proven track record of selling into builders' merchants or related industry would be advantageous.

Mobility: Full, clean UK Driving Licence and a willingness to travel extensively within your assigned territory.
