Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours.

Salary £55,000 - £60,000

On site role, some hybrid work where possible. Located near Lostwithiel or at our new Head office site in Bodmin.

Ehrmann Cornish Dairy is investing heavily in Cornish Dairy Co. and Ehrmann—winning new listings, launching new products, and scaling the business with a new office and increased production capacity. With a strong Cornish heritage and the backing of the Ehrmann family, it’s a chance to make a genuine impact.

Role Purpose

To lead and manage the end-to-end new product development process from concept through to launch, ensuring products are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality, technical, and commercial standards. The role will work closely with commercial, technical, production, procurement, and customer teams to identify opportunities for innovation, improve existing products, and support business growth through successful product launches.

Key accountabilities/duties:

Lead the development and launch of new products in line with customer requirements and business strategy.
Manage the full NPD process including concept development, feasibility, trials, validation, launch, and post-launch review.
Work collaboratively with customers, sales, technical, operations, and procurement teams to deliver commercially viable products.
Coordinate factory trials and first production runs, ensuring accurate documentation and effective communication.
Develop product specifications, recipes, process instructions, and supporting technical documentation.
Ensure all products comply with food safety, legal, quality, and customer standards.
Monitor food and market trends to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
Manage project timelines and critical paths to ensure launches are delivered on schedule.
Liaise with suppliers regarding ingredients, packaging, and new materials.
Support cost management initiatives through recipe optimisation and ingredient substitution where appropriate.
Attend customer meetings and presentations as required.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Maintain accurate records and reports relating to development activities.
Mentor and support junior development team members where applicable.

Essential skills and competencies

Previous experience in a New Product Development role within food manufacturing/FMCG. Within the dairy industry is desirable.
Strong project management and organisational skills.
Knowledge of food safety, quality systems, and relevant legislation.
Experience managing customer-driven development projects from concept to delivery.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK

Desirable skills and competencies

Degree or qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or related discipline.
Experience working with major retailers/customers.
HACCP Level 3 or equivalent food safety qualification.
Experience with retailer specification systems.
Budget management experience.
Team leadership or people management experience.
