We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development & Technical Manager – Gas, Heating & Renewables to support operational growth, strengthen technical delivery, and help expand our presence across domestic, commercial, and renewable sectors.
This is a key leadership role suited to someone with strong technical expertise, operational experience, and a proven ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
About the Role
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role across both business development and technical operations. You will support the company’s continued expansion while ensuring high standards of service delivery across domestic reactive gas and heating maintenance, commercial gas works, and renewable technologies.
This role will be based from our Saltash office; however, the successful candidate will be expected to travel throughout the South West region as required to support business development opportunities, client meetings, operational requirements, and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support business growth initiatives and identify new opportunities across domestic gas, heating, commercial, and renewable sectors
- Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities, housing providers, commercial clients, contractors, and key stakeholders
- Manage and oversee reactive domestic gas and heating maintenance and repair operations
- Provide technical leadership and support to engineers and operational teams
- Oversee commercial gas servicing, installation, and maintenance projects
- Support the development and growth of renewable services including heat pumps and low-carbon heating systems
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with all compliance and industry regulations
- Support tender submissions, pricing exercises, and contract mobilisation activities
- Monitor KPIs, service performance, and operational delivery
- Support recruitment, mentoring, and development of technical teams
- Work collaboratively with senior management to support strategic growth objectives
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience managing reactive domestic gas and heating maintenance and repair contracts
- Strong background in commercial gas systems, servicing, and maintenance
- Experience with renewable technologies such as air source heat pumps and low-carbon heating systems
- Previous experience within a technical management, operational leadership, or business development role
- Strong understanding of compliance, gas regulations, and health & safety requirements
- Ability to identify and develop new business opportunities
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skills
- Commercial awareness and strong operational understanding
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Domestic ACS Gas qualifications
- Commercial Gas qualifications
- Renewable or heat pump qualifications
- Experience within social housing or public sector contracts
- Tendering and contract mobilisation experience
- Knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance environments
