Full job description

Not just another MOT lane. A varied role in a proper workshop.

We're a traditional repair workshop in Bodmin with 9 spacious bays, established since 2002.

We're looking for an experienced MOT Tester who enjoys doing things properly. Your main responsibility will be carrying out MOT tests, but when the testing lane is quiet you'll be helping with servicing, repairs and diagnostics alongside the rest of the team. It's a varied role where everyone pulls together, and MOT testing will always come first.

If you like getting stuck in, taking pride in your work and going home knowing you've done a proper day's work, this will suit you.

We're growing the workshop, investing in the business and building a strong team for the future, so it's a great time to come on board.

The role

You’ll be:

Carrying out MOT tests on Class 4 and Class 7, and class 5 (if you have it)
Completing MOT documentation accurately and in line with DVSA requirements
Advising on MOT failures and any recommended repairs
Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs when you're not MOT testing
Diagnosing faults where required
Working on cars, motorhomes and light commercial vehicles

MOT testing will always take priority, but when there aren't vehicles to test, you'll be getting stuck into the workshop alongside the rest of the team.

What we’re looking for

A valid DVSA MOT Tester qualification, authorised to carry out Class 4 and Class 7 MOT tests. Class 5 would be advantageous but not a deal-breaker
Solid mechanical experience
Some diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Your own tools
A practical, hands-on approach
Pride in doing the job properly
Happy working in a busy, traditional workshop

Weekly pay
Mon - Fri only (no weekends)
7am - 5pm with 30 min paid morning break and up to 1 hour lunch break (unpaid)
