Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Excavator Operator to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating excavators safely and efficiently on various projects, ensuring the smooth progression of site activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and experience in commercial driving to contribute to large-scale infrastructure developments.

Responsibilities

Operate excavators to carry out digging, lifting, and material handling tasks according to project specifications
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of excavator equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards
Assist with site preparation, including clearing debris and preparing ground surfaces for construction activities
Follow all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to site protocols
Coordinate with ground staff and project managers to ensure timely completion of tasks
Maintain accurate records of work performed and report any equipment issues or safety concerns promptly

Skills

Proven experience operating excavators in a construction or civil engineering environment
Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic maintenance
Valid commercial driving licence with experience in operating heavy machinery or lorries preferred
Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to construction sites
Good organisational skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt to changing project requirements

This role is ideal for motivated individuals committed to maintaining high safety standards while delivering quality work on demanding construction sites.

Pay: £18.00-£22.00 per hour
