DAY CENTRE ORGANISER

Age Concern Mansfield

Hours: 7 hours per week (negotiable)

Pay: In line with National Living Wage

ABOUT US

Age Concern Mansfield is a local charity supporting older people in our community. Our day centre provides a warm, safe and welcoming space where older members can enjoy companionship, activities, meals and support in a friendly environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Do you enjoy bringing people together and making a real difference in your local community?

We are looking for a warm, organised and reliable Day Centre Organiser to help run our weekly day centre for older people in Mansfield. This is a rewarding and varied role supporting older members who may be socially isolated, physically frail, or in need of companionship and emotional support.

You will play a key role in creating a welcoming, enjoyable and supportive environment for members, working alongside volunteers and trustees to ensure the centre runs smoothly each week. From preparing meals and refreshments to organising activities and occasional outings, this is a fantastic opportunity to have a meaningful impact in the lives of older people in the local community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Oversee the weekly running of the day centre, including setting up and closing the centre

· Support and coordinate a small team of volunteers

· Prepare and serve meals and refreshments for members

· Organise activities, special events and occasional outings

· Help ensure members feel welcomed, supported and included

· Maintain basic records, cash handling and day centre administration

· Liaise with trustees and help ensure the centre runs smoothly and safely

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who is:

· Friendly, caring and approachable

· Organised and reliable, with a practical hands-on approach

· Passionate about supporting older people in the local community

· Confident working with volunteers, members and trustees

· Comfortable with basic administration, record keeping and cash handling

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Ideally, you will have:

· Experience of working with older people and understanding their needs

· Experience of working with or supporting volunteers

· Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied role

· Confidence in maintaining records and handling small amounts of cash
