Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Hod Carrier/Labourer to join our bricklaying gang. This role involves assisting with various building tasks, supporting skilled tradespeople, and ensuring the smooth progress of construction projects. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, eager to learn, and capable of working in a dynamic environment. Experience with hand tools, masonry, or related trades is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the transportation and organisation of bricks, mortar, and other building materials on-site
- Support bricklayers, masons, carpenters, and other tradespeople in their tasks
- Use hand tools such as trowels, hammers, and levels to aid in construction activities
- Operate power tools and small machinery safely under supervision
- Help with the setup and dismantling of scaffolding and temporary structures
- Support roofing tasks by passing materials and assisting with safety measures
- Assist with welding or carpentry work as directed by supervisors
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by clearing debris and ensuring equipment is stored correctly
Qualifications
- Prior experience with hand tools, masonry, or construction-related trades is desirable but not mandatory
- Valid cscs card required
- Ability to handle physical labour for extended periods
- Basic understanding of safety procedures on construction sites
- Willingness to learn new skills such as bricklaying, roofing, or welding
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities on-site
