Ashby Turn Primary Care Centre is looking for a Medical Receptionist (Maternity Cover) to provide high quality reception and administrative support to the practice. The hours are 37.5 hours over 5 days between the hours of 7:45am and 6:30pm.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and be competent with IT in the workplace preferably with a receptionist / customer service background.
Experience in a Primary Care setting is not essential as full training will be provided.

About us
We are a friendly and well established semi-rural GP practice with a patient list size of approx. 12,300 patients.
Clinically we have 3 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 5 ANPs, 4 Practice Nurses and 4 HCAs. We are a large training practice supporting GP registrars and medical students from Hull & York Medical School.
Operationally the practice is managed by The Practice Manager, with support from the Assistant Practice Manager.
Main duties of the job
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the Practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Reception Manager, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:
- Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
- Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies
- Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice procedures
- Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system (Systmone)
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits, telephone and online consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Filing and retrieving paperwork
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with Practice guidelines
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Providing clerical assistance to Practice from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
- Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
