Full job description

We are a well-established organization seeking an experienced and highly capable Retail Manager (Post Office + Banking Hub) to join our team in Cowdenbeath, Burntisland and Motherwell. This is a demanding role suited for professionals with a strong background in retail or post office operations, capable of handling high-pressure environments, complex transactions, and managerial responsibilities.

As a Retail Manager, you will play a crucial role in the efficient day-to-day operations of our Post Office, ensuring exceptional service delivery while maintaining compliance with financial regulations and operational protocols. You will oversee customer interactions, follow compliance, manage financial transactions, bureau, money transfers and take responsibility for ensuring high service standards, operational efficiency, and security within the hubs and Post Offices.

Candidates without retail experience or handling will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee daily Post Office operations, ensuring strict compliance with financial policies and security protocols.
Assist and supervise customers with banking transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and cheque processing.
Monitor cash flow and reconciliation, ensuring accurate cash handling and compliance with anti-fraud measures.
Lead customer service excellence, handling complex queries, resolving disputes, and ensuring a seamless customer experience.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and organisational policies to mitigate risks.
Coordinate and liaise with Management, financial institutions, and auditors to maintain operational efficiency.
Train and guide junior staff ensuring they adhere to service standards and regulatory requirements.
Identify operational inefficiencies and implement solutions to improve hub performance.
Handle and report incidents, including security breaches, suspicious transactions, or operational disruptions.
Maintain high levels of confidentiality and integrity when handling customer information.

Requirements:
✅ Previous experience in retail, post office operations, or similar environment.
✅ Exceptional cash-handling skills with a track record of accuracy in financial transactions.
✅ Strong leadership and managerial abilities to oversee hub operations and guide junior team members.
✅ Advanced customer service and problem-solving skills, capable of handling difficult queries and complex banking processes.
✅ Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
✅ High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-transaction environment.
✅ Proficiency in operating retail software and digital transaction systems.
✅ Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs, including working extended hours when required.
