Job Title: Registered Manager – Residential Children’s Home (Solo Placement)
Location: Winchester, Hampshire
Salary: £50,000 – £80,000 per annum + Performance Bonus (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent 37 hours a week

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to lead a specialist solo placement Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) Children’s Home supporting young people aged 5–17 years. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate childcare professional to lead a high-quality, therapeutic residential setting that provides tailored, child-centred care to vulnerable young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

This role would also suit an experienced Deputy that is eager to progress onto a Registered Managers role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and regulatory compliance of the home, ensuring outstanding outcomes for children and young people in line with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding standards, and company values.

This role offers a highly competitive salary package of £50,000–£80,000 per annum DOE, dependent on experience, alongside a performance-related bonus structure rewarding excellence in care, compliance, occupancy, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strong and effective leadership to establish and maintain a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for children and young people.
Ensure the home operates in full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding legislation, and Ofsted requirements.
Lead the registration process with Ofsted (where applicable) and maintain positive inspection outcomes.
Develop and implement care plans tailored to the emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs of each child.
Promote positive outcomes in education, emotional wellbeing, independence, and social development.
Manage all aspects of staffing including recruitment, supervision, appraisals, rota planning, performance management, and professional development.
Foster a trauma-informed and therapeutic culture across the home.
Manage budgets effectively and ensure financial sustainability of the service.
Build strong working relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, schools, therapists, and external agencies.
Oversee safeguarding practices, risk management, incident reporting, and behaviour support strategies.
Ensure all policies, procedures, and documentation are maintained to a high standard.
Champion a child-centred approach where young people’s voices, wishes, and feelings are central to care planning.

Essential Requirements

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within required timescales).
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a management role within a residential children’s home environment.
Experience supporting children with EBD, trauma, attachment difficulties, and challenging behaviours.
Strong working knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, and children’s residential legislation.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making abilities.
Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Criteria

Experience managing or establishing a solo placement service.
Previous Ofsted registration and successful inspection outcomes.
Experience in therapeutic or trauma-informed models of care.
Knowledge of complex needs including ADHD, ASD, SEMH, and CSE risks.
