About Us
We are a growing and established company operating within the telecommunications and civil engineering construction sectors, delivering infrastructure projects across a range of clients and locations. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the financial management of the business.
This is a key role within the organisation, providing financial oversight, supporting operational teams, and ensuring robust financial controls are maintained across multiple projects and business functions.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors and Senior Management Team, the Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the company's financial operations using Sage Accounting Software, while also supporting wider administrative and commercial activities.
The successful candidate will be commercially aware, highly organised, and capable of working within a fast-paced project-driven environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management
- Manage the day-to-day finance function using Sage.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Monitor company cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Oversee payroll processes and related submissions.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Analyse project costs, profitability, and financial performance.
- Assist Directors with financial planning and business decision-making.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
- Support year-end accounts preparation and audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and internal controls.
Construction & Telecommunications Support
- Monitor project costs against budgets and contract values.
- Support commercial teams with financial reporting on live projects.
- Track subcontractor payments and supplier accounts.
- Assist with applications for payment, valuations, and cost reporting.
- Monitor plant, labour, and material expenditure across projects.
- Produce financial reports to support operational performance reviews.
Administration & Business Support
- Maintain company financial and administrative records.
- Assist with contract administration and document management.
- Support procurement and supplier management processes.
- Oversee insurance renewals and company compliance documentation.
- Support HR administration, including employee records and onboarding documentation.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of business processes and reporting systems.
- Provide general administrative support to senior management as required.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Management Accountant, or similar senior finance role.
- Strong working knowledge of Sage Accounting Software.
- Experience within the construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, telecommunications, or related sectors.
- Excellent understanding of management accounts, VAT, payroll, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively at all levels.
Desirable Qualifications
- AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent accounting qualification.
- Experience of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme).
- Knowledge of project accounting and contract costing.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations.
