We would like to receive interest from an experienced manager looking to join this progressive service and division as a Band 5 Homecare and Outreach Support Manager.
The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in operational leadership and coordination for the Homecare and Outreach delivery service within SACT Services, spanning across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. The postholder will provide support the SACT Services Management team and be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and performance of homecare deliveries and outreach services, including associated scheduling and administrative services, ensuring safe, timely, and efficient service delivery for patients.
Its an exciting time to be part of SACT services, a key part of the Neighbourhood Oncology Programme, aiming to bring expert cancer care and treatment close to or within peoples homes and communities.
MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB:

You have a limit of 1500 characters, including spaces The post holders' duties will be varied and will include responsibility for the line management of some B2/B3 staff and will deputise for the Assistant Service manager where appropriate.
The Support Manager will work closely with the Service Management Team within SACT Services to deliver an efficient and professional administrative function. This role will include day to day line management of administrative staff, distribution of staff workload, monitoring KPIs and and acting as a key liaison between clinical teams, pharmacy, external providers, and administrative staff.
The Support Manager will need to be personable and approachable and have excellent organisational and management skills.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, looking after more than 64,000 patients a year. Service Coordination and Leadership
- Lead the coordination of homecare deliveries, courier services, and outreach logistics across multiple sites, ensuring timely and safe delivery of SACT treatment and associated equipment.
- Act as the senior point of contact for homecare coordination queries, resolving complex issues and escalating where necessary.
- Oversee day-to-day workload planning, prioritisation, and distribution of tasks across the coordination function.
- Ensure effective communication between clinical teams, pharmacy, couriers, and external providers to support service continuity.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, protocols, and service standards for homecare coordination.
Operational Management and Performance
- Monitor and report on KPIs such as delivery timelines, scheduling performance, and service responsiveness
- Analyse service data to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities
- Ensure all delivery and scheduling activities are recorded accurately
- Manage service pressures including demand fluctuations and delivery constraints
- Support compliance with cancer pathway targets
Homecare and Courier Coordination
- Oversee booking and optimisation of courier routes for efficiency and cost effectiveness
- Ensure safe handling and transport of medications and equipment
- Manage courier systems and inboxes, ensuring timely actioning of requests
- Work closely with pharmacy and clinical teams on delivery requirements
- Implement contingency plans for delays or failed deliveries
Scheduling and Patient Pathway Coordination
- Oversee scheduling of SACT treatments, outpatient appointments, and phlebotomy (bloods closer to home) services
- Ensure patients are informed appropriately of appointments and deliveries
- Monitor clinic readiness and support outreach services
- Act as escalation point for complex scheduling and pathway issues
Staff Support and Supervision
- Provide day-to-day supervision and support to administrative staff
- Support staff training, induction, and ongoing development
- Assist with performance management, appraisals, and absence monitoring
- Promote a positive and supportive team environment
Service Improvement, Quality and Governance
- Contribute to audits, patient feedback, and service evaluations
- Lead on service improvement initiatives within homecare coordination
- Investigate incidents, complaints, and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies and governance standards
Information and Systems Management
- Ensure accurate data entry into patient and operational systems
- Use data systems to monitor performance and manage workflows
- Maintain records relating to delivery activity and scheduling
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders
- Communicate complex or sensitive information effectively
- Participate in meetings relating to homecare and outreach services
