We're looking for a Wedding, Banqueting and Social Events Supervisor to join our team!
Description
As Weddings, Banqueting Social Events Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of our Weddings, Banqueting and Social Events team, supporting the Manager to drive team performance, deliver exceptional customer experiences and maximise revenue across our hotel portfolio.
You’ll manage customer enquiries from initial contact through to confirmed booking, building strong relationships, understanding individual requirements and using your sales skills to convert opportunities and maximise revenue through effective upselling and cross-selling.
Working closely with the Manager, you’ll provide day-to-day support and direction to the team, helping to manage priorities and workload, maintain service standards and ensure activity and commercial targets remain on track. As a subject matter expert, you’ll coach colleagues, share best practice and role model excellent customer service and sales behaviours, helping to build a confident, consistent and high-performing team.
The role also extends beyond incoming enquiries. You’ll support the delivery and commercial success of ticketed and third-party events, while proactively identifying and driving new business opportunities across weddings, banqueting and social events.
You'll work as part of our friendly Commercial Hub team, supporting 32 hotels across the UK. The role reports to the Wedding, Banqueting Social Events Manager and is based at our Commercial Hub in Rugby, Northampton (NN6 7XR).
About the Role
- Supporting the Manager with the day-to-day running of the team, helping to manage workload, priorities, performance and service delivery.
- Providing day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to colleagues and acting as a key point of support within the team.
- Guiding customers confidently through the sales journey, from initial enquiry through to booking confirmation, contracts and payment prior to a seamless handover to the hotel for operational delivery.
- Proactively following up enquiries and proposals to maximise conversion and reduce lost business.
- Taking the time to understand each client's vision, preferences and requirements to recommend the most suitable venue, package and solution.
- You'll be an excellent communicator with a confident telephone manner and the ability to build trusted relationships with wedding couples, event organisers, external caterers, suppliers and hotel teams.
- Proactively identifying and driving new business opportunities, rather than relying solely on incoming enquiries.
- Supporting ticketed events and third-party event opportunities, working with relevant teams and partners to maximise their commercial potential.
- Identifying opportunities to upsell, cross-sell and grow revenue across the hotel portfolio.
- Maintaining excellent knowledge of our hotels, packages, promotions and event offerings.
- Ensuring bookings, customer communications and event documentation are accurate and completed to the required standards.
- Using systems, performance data and commercial insight to manage enquiries, monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Contributing to the achievement of team revenue, conversion, customer satisfaction and service targets.
Please note: This is a central sales-based role. You'll support customers by telephone and email for our portfolio of 32 hotels across the UK, rather than meeting clients face to face.
About You
You’ll have experience within weddings, banqueting, social events or hospitality sales, with strong commercial awareness and a genuine passion for delivering excellent customer experiences.
You’ll be a confident communicator and natural team support who is comfortable helping to coordinate the day-to-day operation, prioritising activity and stepping up to keep the team focused and performing.
You’ll combine a proactive sales mindset with excellent relationship-building skills and won’t be afraid to seek out opportunities, generate business and look for new ways to grow revenue.
You’ll also be comfortable coaching and supporting colleagues, collaborating with hotel and commercial teams and taking ownership when challenges arise.
Above all, you’ll be customer-focused, commercially driven, organised, adaptable, proactive and solution-focused, with the confidence to support both the people and commercial performance of a busy team.
You may have previously worked as a Wedding Events Sales Coordinator, Wedding Events Sales Consultant, Wedding Events Sales Executive or in a similar hospitality or events sales role.
Benefits
Our rewards package includes:
- Career development and access to funded apprenticeships
- Discounts on hotel stays and a variety of major retailers, restaurants and days out.
- Free use of our gyms, pools, and leisure facilities.
- Round the clock access to the Employee Assistance programme, offering mental health and wellbeing support, financial and legal advice.
Next Steps
A member of the team will be in touch to understand what you are looking for in your next role. If successful at this stage, you will be invited to a face-to-face interview and a tour of our Commercial Hub. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the role and for us to understand your experience in more detail.
We review applications as they come in, so apply early to avoid missing out. We may close the role once we’ve found the right person.
