Toolroom Manager / Toolmaker

We are a family-run manufacturing business that has been established for over 40 years and we specialise in the production of high-quality builders metalwork. Our team is close-knit and friendly, and we pride ourselves on our fun, yet hardworking environment where each team member plays a vital role in our success.
We are looking for a Toolroom Manager / Toolmaker to join our production team. In this role, you will be maintaining press tools – serving and repairing damaged tools. This role has scope to collaborate with directors and other parties to design and build new tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Servicing press tools and ensuring tools are in a good standard before running.
- Providing regular checks and cleaning of press tools.
- Building relationships with punch and die engineers.
- Reporting any faulty/flawed tools or punches to limit damage to the press machines and lead times, keeping production moving.
- Ordering spare or replacement parts.
- Adhere to Policies: Ensure all company policies, including health and safety procedures, are followed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Candidates should have tool making experience and be comfortable working alone and as part of a team in a traditional tool room environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen eye for detail.
- A hard working and team playing attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry products up to a specified weight.
- Stand for extended periods.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with a strong sense of teamwork. Experience in the toolmaking and manufacturing sector is essential. An interest in manufacturing and a willingness to continually learn and grow are also key to succeeding in this role.
This role is a full time, permanent position. Your standard hours will be 39.5hrs per week, but this can be flexible if required.
Monday to Thursday: 7.30am – 4.30pm and Friday: 7.30am – 1pm. Options to discuss working hours are available.
There is a the potential to pick up some overtime hours during very busy periods.
We do not have onsite parking, but there is free residential parking nearby. We are very close to bus stops serving the 700 Coastliner or close to Fishersgate & Portslade train stations.
