Many of our young people with SEMH needs or SEN have faced challenges that have left them feeling discouraged or disconnected from education. Every young person deserves someone who won't give up on them - could that be you?

We're looking for proactive and person-centered education professionals (secondary education/Post 16) to plan and deliver personalised learning sessions that spark curiosity, confidence and a sense of hope for our young people who are out of mainstream education. You'll have the opportunity and freedom to deliver learning in the way that you feel best meets the student’s needs. This role offers a genuine opportunity to make a lasting, positive difference.

What you’ll be doing

Providing 1:1 or 2:1 support to children and young people in their homes or a suitable public setting
Delivering personalised, creative sessions that reflect each learner’s needs, interests and abilities
Monitoring and reporting on student progress after each session and setting clear, achievable targets to support ongoing development
Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
Working flexibly (on a bank staff contract) and term-time only, with sessions typically lasting 3 to 5 hours during the school day

Who we’re looking for

Education professionals with at least one year experience supporting children and young people with SEMH needs, including adverse childhood experiences and challenging behaviours
Those from Secondary or Post-16 backgrounds, including specialist SEND settings (experience with Makaton, PECS and behaviour support is an advantage)
Individuals who have experience teaching English and Maths Functional Skills
Individuals with a minimum of 2 consistent weekdays of availability
Professionals with up-to-date understanding of safeguarding and child protection

What you can expect from Fresh Start in Education

£25–£35 per hour, depending on experience
Travel subsidy & £15 per day resource allowance

Bank staff role (PAYE), offering both short-term and long-term placements
