Full job description

HR Manager – Hybrid

12-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Potential for Permanent Appointment

We are seeking an experienced, proactive HR Manager to lead and develop our HR function.

This is a newly created role, ideal for someone who enjoys taking initiative, improving processes and making a visible impact. You will work closely with senior management to provide practical HR advice and ensure effective, consistent people practices across the organisation.

We are a family run Pharmacy Chain with stores across Somerset, Devon and Bristol with an average of 110employees.

Hours: Approximately 12 hours per week (1.5 days)
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 FTE, pro rata, depending on experience

The Role

You will:

Lead HR activity across the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to employee relations and exits.
Develop and implement HR policies, processes and procedures.
Advise and support managers on employee relations, performance, absence and other people matters.
Coordinate and deliver employee induction programmes for new starters.
Monitor and track probationary review milestones, liaising with managers to ensure completion.
Support absence management processes, including arranging Occupational Health appointments and assisting with capability procedures where required.
Coordinate employee relations processes by arranging investigation, disciplinary, grievance, and appeal meetings, including issuing invitations and supporting documentation.
Undertake note-taking duties during employee relations meetings and maintain accurate records of discussions and outcomes.
Drive employee engagement, wellbeing, inclusion and continuous improvement.
Use HR data and insights to support decision-making and workforce planning.
Support talent development and succession planning.
Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and GDPR.
Build strong relationships with employees and senior management.

About You

You will have:

Broad HR generalist experience, ideally at HR Manager level.
Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
Experience implementing HR policies and processes.
Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
Strong employee relations and problem-solving abilities.
Confidence handling HR data and confidential information.
A proactive, collaborative and empathetic approach.
The ability to work effectively remotely and attend occasional meetings.

CIPD membership or a relevant HR qualification is desirable. Healthcare, NHS or Trust experience would also be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape a newly created HR function, improve processes and make a genuine difference.

The initial appointment is for 12 months, with the potential for the role to become permanent.
