Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff in delivering exceptional service. The successful candidate will play a vital part in food preparation, cleaning, and assisting with basic cooking tasks. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience within the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation tasks under supervision, ensuring ingredients are ready for cooking
Support chefs with basic cooking duties as required
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
Ensure all work surfaces are sanitised and organised according to health and safety standards
Help with stock rotation and storage of ingredients and supplies
Support the serving staff during busy periods by providing necessary assistance
Follow hygiene protocols diligently to uphold cleanliness standards in the kitchen environment
Assist with waste disposal and recycling processes efficiently

Qualifications

Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene practices is advantageous
Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Willingness to learn new skills and take on varied tasks
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends if necessary
A positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential for success in this role
