Calling Chefs of All Experience Levels to Be Part of Something New

Location: Greenforge Way, Cwmbran, Torfaen, NP44 5AJ
Rate: £15 - £18 depending on experience
Start Date: Immediate

Greenmeadow Community Farm has been open for just over six months and is already thriving. With a growing reputation, increasing visitor numbers, and a genuinely supportive team culture, we’re excited to be entering the next phase of our journey.

We’re now looking for passionate, skilled chefs to join us on a flexible working pattern with banked hours, supporting our weddings, events, and hospitality offer. This is a fantastic opportunity for chefs seeking varied work with fair, transparent hours and consistent pay.

You’ll be a key part of delivering a diverse, high-quality food operation across the site, including:

A welcoming Farmshop showcasing local produce and artisan goods
A busy Café Restaurant serving seasonal, farm-inspired dishes
A stylish Barista Coffee Bar
Family-friendly concessions across the farm
A high-energy Playbarn Café
Weddings, private events, school visits, and seasonal celebrations

No two days are the same, and creativity, teamwork, and adaptability are essential.

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie
Background in high-volume, multi-outlet kitchens
Strong experience in wedding and event catering
Passion for fresh, seasonal, and sustainable food
Confident supporting and developing junior team members
Good financial awareness, including stock control and supplier liaison
Highly organised, calm under pressure, and detail-focused
Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends

Job Description

Key Responsibilities – Chef

As a Chef, you’ll play a vital role in launching and supporting the leadership of a vibrant, multi-outlet kitchen operation at one of the region’s most exciting new destinations. Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Head Chef in delivering the culinary vision across the Farmshop, Café Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar, Playbarn Café, Concessions, and Events & Hospitality spaces
Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene are maintained at all times
Managing daily kitchen operations, including food prep, stock rotation, allergen control, and assisting with supplier coordination
Working closely with front-of-house and events teams to ensure smooth service for school visits, weddings, seasonal events, and private functions
Maintaining consistency and efficiency across a logistically varied site, ensuring timely and high-quality food delivery
Upholding food safety and hygiene standards, including compliance with HACCP procedures
Contributing to menu development, bringing creativity and seasonal inspiration to the table
Driving continuous improvement, offering ideas and feedback to enhance the food offering and kitchen operations

Qualifications

✅ What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-volume, quality-focused environment
A strong background in wedding and event catering—you know how to deliver under pressure and support seamless execution
A track record of supporting, training, and motivating kitchen teams to maintain consistently high standards
Financial awareness, with experience in food cost control, GP targets, stock management, and supplier coordination
Excellent coaching and delegation skills—you lead by example and support the Head Chef in developing the team
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure, especially during peak service
An empathetic and effective communicator with a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
Strong menu execution, planning, and problem-solving abilities
Able to work weekends and evenings as required by the operation
