We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Trainee Assistant Bookkeeper to join our team.
This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in bookkeeping and accountancy. Previous bookkeeping experience would be helpful, but it is not essential. We are more interested in finding someone who is organised, comfortable working with numbers, willing to learn and has a good attitude towards helping clients.
You will work alongside our existing team, helping to maintain bookkeeping records for a range of clients and gradually taking on more responsibility as your experience develops.
The role will include:
- Maintaining bookkeeping records for clients
- Entering and checking purchase and sales invoices
- Processing bank transactions and completing bank reconciliations
- Reviewing client records and identifying missing information
- Helping to prepare bookkeeping records ready for VAT returns and accounts
- Liaising with clients to obtain information and answer straightforward queries
- Using bookkeeping and accountancy software
- General administrative duties connected with client accounts
- Working with other members of the team to ensure deadlines are met
About you
We are not necessarily looking for someone who already knows everything about bookkeeping. Full support and training will be provided, and there will be plenty of opportunity to learn as you go.
The right person will ideally:
- Be comfortable working with figures
- Have good attention to detail
- Be organised and able to manage their workload
- Have reasonable computer skills
- Be confident communicating with clients by telephone and email
- Be willing to ask questions and learn
- Be reliable and happy working as part of a small team
Experience with bookkeeping software or previous work in an accounts environment would be an advantage, but it is certainly not essential.
What we offer
You will be joining a friendly and approachable accountancy practice where you will receive hands-on training and support from experienced members of the team.
For someone who wants to build a career in bookkeeping or accountancy, there will be the opportunity to develop your knowledge, gain practical experience and take on more responsibility over time.
If you are interested in the position, please send us your CV together with a brief introduction telling us a little about yourself and why the role appeals to you.
We would particularly encourage applications from people who may not have worked in an accountancy practice before but who feel they have the right attitude and would like the opportunity to learn.
Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
Work Location: In person
