Job Title: Shift Leader - Needlework
Responsible to: Head of Finished Products
We are currently looking for a Shift Leader to oversee our Needlework department.
This is a permanent post working 34 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 1600-0100.
The rate of pay starts from £15.00 per hour, with the successful candidate’s relevant skills and experience taken into consideration.
About the Role:
As a Shift Leader you will be responsible for ensuring the production flow in the department and meet targets by leading the team to maximise operational efficiency and ensure compliance.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Delivery
- Meet targets and prioritise work according to the department production plan
- Optimise operational efficiency
- Ensure quality standards meet specifications
- Drive continuous improvement
- Ensure department is clean and orderly at all times
- Ensure planned and preventative maintenance is carried out as required.
- Use problem solving techniques to support decision making
- Deputise for Head of Department
- Control of department costs
- Monitor performance identifying any performance related issues and implement capability or disciplinary procedure when required
- Duty of care to ensure the health and safety of your team
- Conduct recruitment activities, on-boarding, one-to-one meetings and PDRs
- Manage absence including but not limited to holidays and sickness absence
- Responsible for training and development of your team and perform the role of assessor and or verifier
- Ensure that your team are competent to do their roles as per the competency standards at the required productivity level
- Ensure effective communications with your team including running shift meetings, white boards and shift handovers

Desirable experience:
- Previous leadership experience
- Experience in Needlework (hand sew / machine embroidery), textiles or a similar production environment would be a huge advantage
