Role Overview
The Warehouse Operative is responsible for overseeing the warehouse operations, managing stock inventory, handling deliveries, and ensuring efficient stock management processes. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to use computer systems for inventory tracking. You will report directly to the Contract Manager and play an integral role in the day-to-day operations of our Scotland Branch.
Key Responsibilities
1. Receiving and Processing Deliveries:
· Accept deliveries, check for accuracy and condition and sign for materials upon arrival.
· Label received materials and locate them away to ensure proper identification and tracking.
2. Stock Management and Inventory Control:
· Conduct regular stock taking to monitor inventory levels and identify discrepancies.
· Manage and organize warehouse storage to optimize space utilization and facilitate efficient stock retrieval.
· Cut/prepare stock based on floor layers' requirements for their jobs to ensure accurate tracking and allocation.
3. Warehouse Operations Management:
· Oversee daily warehouse operations to ensure smooth workflow and operational procedures with special attention to, and adherence to safety.
· Load, unload and locate materials using appropriate equipment and techniques to prevent damage and ensure their own safety and the safety of others.
4. Stock Ordering and Procurement:
· Manage and order stock inventory based on expectant demand, stock levels, and communicated project requirements.
· Liaise with branch administrator on stock requirements and delivery dates, to ensure stock levels for ongoing projects, are maintained.
5. Computer and System Operations:
· Utilise computer systems and software applications for inventory tracking, stock management, and reporting.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of stock levels, transactions, and inventory data.
Experience and Qualifications
· Previous experience in warehouse operations, stock management, or inventory control is advantageous.
· Proficiency in using computers and software applications is preferable for inventory management and data entry.
· Must be self motivated and be comfortable working on their own and well as in a team. Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
· Fork Lift Truck licence and experience desirable
· Full UK driving licence to allow delivery of materials to fitters on site where required is essential
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
· Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with exposure to various weather conditions, dust, and noise.
