Job Overview
Lakes Speciality Foods is a successful catering butchery business supplying high quality products to our hotel, restaurant and catering customers throughout the North West. Founded in 2004, we have grown from strength to strength winning awards for the best sausage and bacon in Britain on our way. We operate over two sites, in the beautiful Lake District towns of Staveley and Ulverston.

We specialise in beef, lamb, pork, poultry, game, sausage, bacon, charcuterie and cooked meats. We also supply cheese and diary products through the Cheese Larder, our specialist supplier of cheese and dairy products.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Butcher to join our established and growing team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food production and preparation, with a passion for culinary excellence. You will take pride in ensuring the products we supply to our valued customers are of the highest quality. You will be a motivated and valued team player.

You'll be responsible for preparing our speciality meat products, ensuring adherence to food safety standards, and delivering exceptional service to our customers.

We start early! Our team starts at 4am and operates Monday to Saturday so this is the perfect role for those who love an early start, having their afternoons to themselves and every Sunday off. Full time hours are over 5 days per week, so you'll have one day off during the week too, and we have an early finish on Saturdays (we do also have some flexibility for part-time roles for the right candidates).

About the role...

Skillfully cut, trim, and prepare all types of meat according to the correct specification and customer preferences
Meet production targets whilst ensuring all meat products are stored correctly and labelled accurately
Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory management to ensure freshness, quality and minimise waste
Collaborate and communicate with factory staff to fulfil orders efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality
At all times, maintain standards of cleanliness and organisation of the work area in compliance with LSF Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations
Wear our provided, full PPE at all times and adhere to factory standards regarding personal clothing and jewellery
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in food safety and butchery techniques

Your skills and experience

Proven experience as a butcher or similar role in a culinary or food production environment
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
Excellent knife skills with the ability to work with precision and attention to detail on a variety of cuts of meat
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced factory environment while maintaining high standards of hygiene
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
A passion for delivering quality products and excellent service
