This is an office-hours role working 40 hours per week, with occasional travel to care homes and regional offices.
As a Network / Infrastructure Administrator, you'll be the organisation's in-house technical specialist for identity, access and infrastructure administration. Working closely with the Head of IT Infrastructure, the IT Support team and managed service provider (MSP), you'll help ensure secure, reliable technology services while providing expert technical support across the business.
About the role
This is a specialist technical role responsible for supporting the organisation's hybrid infrastructure environment and acting as the key internal contact for identity, network and infrastructure administration.
You'll manage the day-to-day administration of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, overseeing user accounts, access permissions, security groups, group policies and the wider identity lifecycle. Acting as the technical escalation point for the IT Support team, you'll resolve complex issues relating to identity, connectivity and end-user technology while working closely with the MSP on infrastructure-related matters.
You'll monitor network and infrastructure performance, support new site openings and technology changes, and help ensure the organisation maintains secure, well-governed identity and access controls. You'll also contribute to disaster recovery planning, technical governance, audit activity and change management, helping maintain resilient, compliant technology services across the organisation.
Alongside your technical responsibilities, you'll coach IT Support Analysts, sharing your expertise and helping strengthen technical capability across the wider team.
About you
You'll be an experienced infrastructure professional with strong technical knowledge of Microsoft identity technologies and hybrid IT environments.
You'll enjoy solving complex technical problems and be confident acting as the bridge between internal teams and external technology partners. Comfortable working across multiple technologies, you'll combine excellent analytical skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently while maintaining high standards of security and governance.
You'll'll be collaborative, approachable and keen to share your knowledge, supporting colleagues through coaching and technical guidance while contributing to continuous improvements across the IT function.
What you'll bring
Essential
- Significant experience in network and infrastructure administration, with strong expertise in Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Experience managing identity lifecycle processes, security groups, group policies, conditional access and privileged access management.
- Experience supporting hybrid Microsoft environments, including Microsoft 365 and directory synchronisation.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP and firewalls.
- Experience working with managed service providers or third-party IT partners within a hybrid support model.
- Experience providing second-line technical support and resolving complex infrastructure and identity issues.
- Strong understanding of access governance, audit requirements and security best practice.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Microsoft, networking or cyber security certifications such as MS-102, AZ-104, Network+ or Security+.
- Knowledge of Cyber Essentials, DSPT, GDPR and wider cyber security frameworks.
- Experience within healthcare, social care or another highly regulated multi-site environment.
