The Role
As our Transport Coordinator, you will be the heartbeat of our delivery operations. You will be responsible for planning, optimising, and managing daily delivery routes, ensuring our fleet is utilised effectively, and maintaining clear communication with our drivers and customers.
This is a fast paced, vital role that requires sharp problem solving skills and a passion for logistics efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Route Planning: Map out and optimize daily delivery schedules to ensure maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely deliveries.
- Fleet & Driver Coordination: Act as the main point of contact for drivers, providing them with clear schedules, loading instructions, and real-time support on the road.
- System Management: Utilise specialized route planning software to monitor deliveries and adapt to live traffic or operational changes.
- Customer Service: Liaise with clients regarding delivery windows, delays, or specific drop-off instructions, ensuring a premium service experience.
- Admin & Compliance: Maintain accurate transport logs, tracking data, and delivery notes.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven Experience: You must have a solid background in transport coordination or logistics planning.
- Software Savvy (Crucial): Previous experience using route planning software is required. Specific experience with SmartRoutes (www.smartroutes.io) is highly advantageous.
- Geographical Knowledge: A strong understanding of UK road networks and geography.
- Communication Skills: Excellent phone manner and the ability to communicate clearly with both drivers and customers.
- Adaptability: The ability to stay calm under pressure and solve logistical puzzles on the fly.
Hours & Working Conditions
- Type: Full-time, Permanent, Office-based.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Flexibility: Occasional Saturday morning shifts will be required depending on business demand.
