Full job description

Job Summary

Dr Laliwala & Partners is looking to welcome a HCA/GPA Assistant to join the team on a Fixed Term basis.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

Supporting the practice team by carrying out the following:

o Baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately

o Routine investigations such as ECGs and venepuncture

o Wound care and dressings

o Ensuring specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation

o Flu vaccinations

o Ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse

o Act as a chaperone as required

o Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

o Undertake new patient health checks and BMI monitoring

o Any other clinical tasks as required

Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes and chronic disease clinics
Ensure daily, weekly and monthly checks are carried out such as stocking rooms, checking fridge contents and temperatures, removing clinical waste etc. and logging this information as specified
Compression bandaging essential
Provide support during minor operations
Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead
Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
Support and participate in shared learning within the organisation

About you

As a key member of our team of Doctors, Physician Associates, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, Nurses you will have:

A level 3 healthcare qualification or equivalent, or be working towards this
Previously dealt with the public and worked in a healthcare setting
Ideally you will have a relevant qualification in Phlebotomy/Venepuncture
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and you will be able to understand the needs of the patient and be sensitive and empathic
Good interpersonal skills, committed to supporting the team and the ability to work under pressure
Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
Strong IT skills
A commitment to ongoing professional development
