We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Personal Tax Assistant to join our growing team in Northwich on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Client Director, you will support a portfolio of personal tax clients, assisting with a range of tax matters including compliance, tax planning, and the preparation of personal tax returns. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical knowledge while gaining exposure to a varied client base in a supportive and collaborative environment.
This role is ideally suited to someone who is either at the beginning of their personal tax career or has up to two years' experience in a similar role. Job Purpose
To support the delivery of personal tax services by assisting with tax compliance, tax planning, and the preparation of personal tax returns for a portfolio of clients, while developing technical expertise and contributing to a high-quality client service within a supportive team environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with a portfolio of personal tax clients, building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Communicate with clients to obtain information and documentation required for tax compliance work.
- Support the preparation and submission of personal tax returns, ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Assist in calculating tax liabilities and preparing client communications under the guidance of senior team members.
- Help prepare and submit P11Ds and support the administration of benefits in kind in line with HMRC requirements and deadlines.
- Liaise with HMRC and other third parties on routine client matters.
- Keep up to date with relevant tax legislation, filing requirements, and internal procedures through ongoing training and development.
- Provide general administrative and tax support to the wider team as required.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and level of experience.
Requirements
- Experience within an accountancy practice is desirable, with an interest in developing a career in personal tax.
- A strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Well organised with good attention to detail and the ability to manage workload effectively to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to support colleagues and work collaboratively during busy periods to ensure excellent client service.
- Able to produce accurate, high-quality work and take pride in getting things right first time.
- Proactive and eager to learn, with the confidence to research unfamiliar tax matters and seek guidance when required.
- Good problem-solving skills and a positive approach to tackling new challenges.
- Committed to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with tax legislation and industry changes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Working towards, or interested in studying towards, a professional tax qualification would be advantageous.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
Location: Northwich office
Pay: £27,500.00-£30,000.00 per year
