Bolton College is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Stores Technician to join our catering team. This role plays a key part in ensuring our commercial catering operations and training kitchens run smoothly, efficiently, and safely.
Working closely with both the catering stores and curriculum teams, you will help create a high‑quality learning and working environment for staff, learners, and customers.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in a catering, hospitality, stores, or food production setting, particularly involving stock handling, receiving, or issuing goods.
- Experience setting up kitchens or restaurant spaces for educational or commercial use.
- A proactive, hands‑on approach with a willingness to learn, support colleagues, and work as part of a busy team.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- An understanding of Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH.
Day-to-day you will be responsible for:
- Maintain efficient operations within the catering stores, including monitoring stock levels and notifying the Procurement Assistant when items need replenishing.
- Work closely with the curriculum catering team to prepare and set up ingredients, equipment, and resources in the training kitchens according to lesson plans and course needs.
- Carry out routine checks on equipment, cleaning supplies, stationery, and uniform stocks.
- Support the wider catering team in delivering excellent customer service to learners, colleagues, and visitors.
As an individual you will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk, and will therefore be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
