Vacancy: Social Group Volunteer
Reporting to Volunteer Manager: Justine Watson Smith / Kate Nattrass
Location: Oldham
This is a key position supporting members of an Oldham based friendship matters Group
The role includes:
- Collect money in subs and supporting other volunteers in keeping accurate and reliable accounting systems up to date
- To assist with planning of events and trips for the group ensuring consultation with members and to liaise with Volunteer Manager regarding finances required for planned trips
- To encourage social interaction between group members and provide information to members about other Henshaws services that may support
- To assist with fundraising activities as required
- Guide group members as required at meetings and on occasional lunches/trips out
- Positive engagement with the venue where the group meets
The Group meet monthly on the third Friday of the month 09.30am-12.30pm at a local Church Hall in the Penine Vale/Upper Mill area of Oldham

Due to the nature/location of this role, applicants will require a DBS check (facilitated by Henshaws)

Support a monthly peer support group based in Oldham.
What we require from you:
Organised.- A flexible and positive approach.
- Adaptability to the role’s requirements.
- Personable when speaking with members of the public, staff, and other volunteers.
- Friendly and sociable nature.
- Understanding of issues and barriers visually impaired people may experience.
- Being sensitive to providing support within a care environment.
Support you will receive from Henshaws, and your involvement in our organisation includes:
Regular contact with the manager responsible for the area with which you will volunteer.- You will gain valuable experience and understanding of the services Henshaws offers.
- You will be part of the work of a highly regarded UK charity.
- We will reimburse reasonable expenses.
- Full training including sight guide training and supervision will be given as appropriate for the volunteering role.
- Volunteers are invited to attend Henshaws events which include other areas of our work.
- We ask all our volunteers to follow Henshaws policies and procedures.
- We will need you to complete documentation relating to the role.
