CNC Operator – Glass Processing

We are looking for an experienced and quality-focused CNC Operator to join our glass processing team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in precision, works safely, and understands the importance of producing high-quality work to specification. You will be operating specialist CNC glass processing machinery, working from drawings and production instructions as part of a skilled and supportive production team.
Experience in glass or stone processing would be a strong advantage, but we would also welcome applications from CNC operators in other manufacturing or engineering environments who have the right attitude, attention to detail and mechanical understanding.

The role
You will set, prepare and operate CNC machinery to process glass products accurately and efficiently. You will read drawings and specifications, load materials and tooling, carry out checks, monitor machine performance and inspect finished work to ensure every job meets the required standard. This role operates on a rotating shift basis of one week on days and one week on lates. Monday-Thursday 07.00 – 15.00/14.00 – 22.30 Friday 07.00 – 14.00/13.00 – 18.00 to cover 36.5 hours per week. There is also a shift allowance payable. The current basic hourly rate is £13.66.
Key responsibilities
· Set up, prepare and operate CNC machinery for glass processing tasks including drilling, milling, grinding and polishing.
· Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and production instructions.
· Load materials, tools and programmes correctly for each job.
· Carry out quality checks before and during production.
· Monitor machine operation and make adjustments where required.
· Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
· Maintain productivity while keeping quality and safety as priorities.
· Carry out daily machine checks and basic maintenance.
· Identify and report mechanical, quality or safety issues promptly.
· Keep the work area clean, organised and safe.
· Work flexibly with the production team during busy periods.
What we are looking forEssential
· Previous experience operating CNC machinery.
· Ability to read and understand technical drawings or production specifications.
· Good mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Confidence using measuring tools and checking work to specification.
· A safety-conscious approach to machinery and workplace procedures.
· Reliability, good timekeeping and a productive work ethic.
· Ability to communicate clearly and work well as part of a team.
Desirable
· Experience in glass or stone processing.
· CAD/CAM or CNC programming knowledge.
· Experience with tooling, machine setting and precision measurement.
· Engineering, manufacturing or relevant technical qualification.
