Dayshift Machine Operator
Derby: Commutable from Nottingham, Belper, Burton, Ashby De La Zouch

Our recently constructed state-of-the-art facility in Derby offers excellent working conditions and high-quality health & safety and quality standards. £15.21 per hour.
About the Role
We are looking for a Machine Operator to work from our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Derby. You will ideally have some experience with the following machinery, and will be expected to move around the machine shop to cover holidays and sick leave:
- Peddinghaus Shotblast Machine
- Peddinghaus PCD CNC Saw/Drill cutting up to 1200mm wide sections.
- Peddinghaus XDM CNC Saw/Drill cutting up to 650mm wide sections.
- Peddinghaus FDB CNC Plasma/Gas Plate Machine
Working hours: 6:00-2:30 Monday to Thursday, 6:00-1:30 Friday. Overtime when available Saturday and Sunday.
Key Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Experience in operating one or more of the following: CNC Drill/Saw Lines, Shotblast Machine, Plasma CNC Plate Machine (Peddinghaus advantageous but not essential).
- Certified to use 5-10 Tonne Gantry cranes (additional training available)
- Highly organised and methodical in approach to working practices.
- Ability to read numbers accurately with high attention to detail.
- Diligent and proactive, always thinking ahead.
- Good communication skills
- Highly Health and Safety conscious
- High level of accuracy in the use of Metric Tape Measure and Callipers
- Willingness to learn and flexible.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- You will be required to use five tonne cranes to load relevant steel onto power rollers and operate machinery to Shot Blast/Flash Blast all steels relevant to the blasting sheets.
- You will be required to use Saw/Drills to work to relevant cut sheets and load saw lines using a Load & Go system. You will operate the Saw/Drill to cut, mitre, drill and mill all steels, ensuring correct drill sizes/milling sizes etc are being used.
- You will use the Plasma/Gas Plate Machine, loading the relevant thickness allocated sized plate onto the power rollers using cranes. You will work to a programmed nested cutting sheet to ensure drilling and cutting is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and clean burrs off the finished plate using a five-inch grinder.
