Job Summary:
The Joiner will be responsible for carrying out joinery installations, repairs, and maintenance across mental health healthcare settings, with a strong focus on the installation, inspection, and maintenance of fire doors and associated joinery works.
Attending different healthcare settings throughout the midlands .
This role requires a skilled and experienced tradesperson who understands the specific safety, anti-ligature, and compliance requirements of health environments. The successful candidate will ensure all works are completed to a high standard and in accordance with fire safety regulations, infection control measures, and healthcare compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair fire doors and associated joinery in line with fire safety standards.
- Conduct fire door inspections, reporting any defects or non-compliance issues accurately and promptly.
- Carry out general joinery works, including fitting door frames, skirting, window boards, and bespoke carpentry as required.
- Work in accordance with anti-ligature and infection control standards appropriate to mental health settings.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, including work orders, inspection sheets, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely, respecting the privacy and needs of staff and service users within sensitive healthcare environments.
- Participate in reactive and planned maintenance programmes.
- Contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to all Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Joiner with a strong background in fire door installation, maintenance, and inspection.
- Knowledge of relevant fire door regulations and standards (e.g. BS 8214, BS 9999).
- Experience working in healthcare or secure environments.
- Competence in fitting and repairing anti-ligature and robust door systems.
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality within healthcare settings.
- Ability to work from drawings and specifications to high levels of accuracy.
- Full UK driving licence and Own vehicle
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to compliance and quality.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Previous experience in reactive and planned maintenance within public sector or healthcare estates.
