Full job description

An opportunity has arisen in the Orthoptic Department for an Orthoptic Administrator based at Royal Derby Hospital. Line Management will be provided by the Administrative Team Leader at RDH Derby,

The role will assist with the clerical and administrative processes in the Orthoptic department to support the clinical team. You will work closely with booking staff, secretaries and navigators to ensure a robust service.

You must have read the contents of the main duties and job description and feel confident that you are able to fulfil the requirements.

You should be educated to a good standard of English to GCSE or equivalent and have an advanced level of IT literacy with demonstrable experience of using a range of IT applications.

To provide administrative and clerical support to the Orthoptic department at Royal Derby Hospital.

General administrative duties

To answer telephone and email enquiries for non-clinical and clinical matters.
To deal with all other departmental correspondence, including mail, emails, messages and enquiries from patients and colleagues.
To communicate clinical information in electronic, written and verbal form to health and other professionals adhering to confidentiality and Data Protection.
To accurately enter patient data onto secure departmental spreadsheets for recording purposes.
To attend regular meetings with the Orthoptic team including departmental meetings, 1-1 supervision and appraisals.

Additional duties
Any other duties required by the Orthoptists or Administrative Team Leader.
