Secondary Maths Tutor (Self‑Employed) – Join Our Family‑Run Tuition Centre
Location: West Hallam, Derbyshire
Hours: Set weekly hours chosen by you (self‑employed)
Subjects: Secondary Maths (Year 9-11), with optional Primary Maths
We are a friendly, family‑run tuition centre with a strong reputation for helping young people grow in confidence and achieve meaningful progress. As our centre continues to expand, we are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic qualified Secondary Maths Tutor to join our supportive team.
We teach pupils in the surrounding areas at our centre in the evenings Monday- Friday and we’re open all day on Sunday. Whilst there is no expectation for our tutors to work all opening hours, we are looking for somebody with good availability to support as many students success as possible.
Lessons are taught on a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio and we don’t use computer based programmes so tutors are required to provide tailored lessons for each individual student after an initial assessment with us that identifies gaps in learning. Planning is done in the moment for each student so workload isn’t required at home unless chosen by the tutor.
This role is ideal for someone who genuinely cares about young people, takes pride in delivering high‑quality lessons, and wants to be part of a centre where every tutor and student is valued and trusted.
About the Role:
You will deliver engaging, structured Maths lessons to students in Year 7 to Year 11 on a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio, supporting them with key skills, GCSE preparation, and accelerated progress. If you enjoy working with younger learners, there is also the option to teach Primary Maths.
Your sessions will run on the same days and times each week, offering consistency for both you and your students. Although the role is self‑employed, you will feel very much part of our close‑knit team.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong subject knowledge in Secondary Maths and a teaching qualification.
- Someone warm, reliable, and genuinely invested in pupil progress
- A tutor or teacher who can deliver high‑quality, engaging lessons
- A positive team player who values a supportive, family‑run environment
- Experience with GCSE Maths content and exam preparation is highly desirable
What We Offer:
- A welcoming, supportive team who truly care about each other
- Consistent weekly hours with long‑term students
- A well‑resourced centre with structured schemes of work
- A chance to make a real difference to local families
- A role where your passion and personality are valued
How to Apply:
If you’re a qualified teacher who is passionate about Maths, committed to helping young people succeed and would love to be part of a centre that feels like a community, we’d love to hear from you.
