About Us
We are a small, hardworking team responsible for the receipt and distribution of stock from NHS Supply Chain and courier deliveries across Royal Derby Hospital. Each day, we receive between 200 and 400 courier parcels, as well as 60+ cages of stock from NHS Supply Chain, alongside palletised deliveries.
Our Stores Porters cover a significant distance across the hospital every day, making this role ideal for someone who enjoys being active, working independently, and keeping busy.
The role also involves operating the department's electric tug to transport cages of goods around the site, so a full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
The Role
- Sort and transport NHS Supply Chain cages from Stores to the basement using the electric tug.
- Deliver NHS Supply Chain cages from the basement to receiving areas across the hospital.
- Receive courier deliveries, process them, and create tracking labels using the Delivery POD system.
- Sort processed parcels into delivery cages for geographical areas of the hospital.
- Deliver parcels to receiving areas and record deliveries using a PDA to provide proof of delivery.
- Collect empty cages from hospital departments and corridors for return to NHS Supply Chain.
- Transport palletised deliveries using manual and electric pallet trucks.
Distribute PPE from the central hub to hospital departments.
About You
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both face-to-face and over the phone.
- Confident using computers and entering data accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with a process-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and use your own initiative to plan deliveries.
