Lead Assistant Youth Worker / Youth Club Leader

Tuesdays (2h45) - 5.45-8.30pm

Pay: £13.45-14.45 per hour depending on experience

Make a real difference to young people in your community — and lead a club full of energy, fun and purpose.

Our Youth Club is a lively, welcoming space where young people come to relax, talk, try new activities and feel supported. We’re looking for someone who can bring warmth, structure and enthusiasm to each session. Just under 3 hours per week, perfect for someone looking for a meaningful role alongside other commitments.

You don’t need to tick every box — if you’re confident with young people, organised, and willing to learn, we’ll support you to grow into the role.

Overview

4Youth (South West) is recruiting a Youth Club Leaders to support the delivery of safe, engaging and inclusive youth work for our Juniors youth club (9 to 12yo) on Tuesdays. Shifts are 5.45-8.30pm with club running 6-8pm.

Both roles require the ability to create a welcoming environment where young people feel safe, supported and able to thrive.

Key responsibilities

Leadership (support and guide staff and volunteers during a club session; handle behaviour, safeguarding or first aid issues calmly)
Planning and Delivery (plan simple, engaging activities and make sure the club is set up and packed down with the team)
Teamwork (encourage teamwork and positive communication)
Administration (complete brief session notes and incident records)
Social Media (promote activities and celebrate achievements)
Health and Safety (carry out basic safety checks and ensure the building is left clean, safe and secure)

Person Specification

Essential

Experience working or volunteering with young people in groups.
Confident leading sessions and supporting a small team.
Able to relate well to young people, including those who are hard to reach.
Organised, reliable and able to manage session planning and delivery.
Creative thinker with ideas for engaging youth work activities.
Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and positive youth development.
Able to actively support and promote 4Youth’s ethos and values.
Ability to adapt activities to meet diverse needs.
Ability to create calm, structured and supportive environments.

Desirable

Experience using social media for community engagement.
Youth work or playwork qualification (or willingness to train).
First aid, safeguarding or health & safety training.

Pay: £13.45-£14.45 per hour
