Factory Manager Role
Overseeing the daily operations of the production site, ensuring that production schedules / orders are met and quality standards are maintained. The role requires a blend of managerial, engineering and technical skills to coordinate multiple functions, monitor processes, and implement cost-effective strategies.
It is also the role and responsibility of the Factory Manager to maintain a safe working environment, manage staff, and continuously strive to improve production efficiency.
The Factory Manager has overall responsibility of the total site and its operations. This position is crucial for the smooth operation and profitability of the plant, making it a highly demanding, yet rewarding, role. Proactive engagement with co-workers, suppliers, Directors and stakeholders will be key to success in this role.
The Factory Manager will report to the CEO, who is based remotely, hence the need for excellent autonomous skills.
Responsibilities
Production Management: Plan, schedule and oversee daily production activities to meet deadlines, including monitoring output and optimising workflows.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all and most recent safety regulations, occupational health standards and environmental regulations.
Quality Control: Collaborate with Government departments, technical consultants and colleagues to ensure products meet company, customer and industrial standards and requirements.
Team Leadership: Manage factory staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations, fostering a productive and positive working environment.
Financial & Operational: Maintain manufacturing budgets, reduce costs and identify areas for process improvement (lean manufacturing).
Equipment & Maintenance: Create a planned maintenance schedule, manage machinery performance, conduct regular inspections and coordinate maintenance schedules.
Raw Material Inventory: Oversee raw material inventory, collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely, compliant delivery of raw materials.
Other: Develop and enforce factory policies and procedures. Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate production records and company reports. Provide leadership and direction to improve the factory performance and standards and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise on site.
About You
Previous experience in a managerial role within a manufacturing environment.Strong engineering skills / background a major advantage.Strong understanding of production processes and techniques.Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations.Excellent team and project management and leadership skills.Proven ability to implement process improvements and cost savings.Proficiency in MS Office and ERP software.Excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Above all, a ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to engage in all aspects of a fledgling business.
