The Role
We are looking for a dynamic and commercially minded Market Analyst to support strategic decision-making across the UK infrastructure and innovation sectors. This role will provide high-quality market intelligence, competitor analysis, industry research, and commercial insights to identify emerging opportunities, monitor market trends, and inform business growth strategies.
The successful candidate will combine strong analytical skills with an understanding of the UK's infrastructure landscape, including transport, energy, utilities, energy transition, sustainability and innovation ecosystems. The role focuses on transforming sector research, client analysis, and framework intelligence into prioritised opportunity pipelines that can be directly pursued.
Important: This is a market analysis role rather than a data analytics position. We are looking for someone with experience of analysing markets, competitors, customers and industry trends to generate commercial insight and strategic recommendations. While general analytical skills are valuable, candidates whose experience is primarily focused on SQL, Power BI, Python, Tableau, business intelligence or statistical data analysis without market analysis experience are unlikely to be a good fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed market research across the UK infrastructure and innovation sectors.
- Analyse industry trends, government policy and investment cycles, funding programmes and regulatory developments.
- Monitor competitor activity, market positioning and emerging technologies.
- Identify new business opportunities, growth sectors and strategic partnerships.
- Produce market intelligence reports, briefing papers and commercial insights for senior stakeholders to agreed deadlines.
- Develop and maintain market databases, dashboards and performance metrics.
- Support the senior business development manager by providing market evidence for bids, proposals and client presentations.
- Evaluate customer needs, market demand and sector-specific challenges.
- Monitor public sector investment programmes, innovation funding (UK and Europe) and procurement pipelines.
- Collaborate with technical, commercial and leadership teams to inform strategic planning.
- Present findings through clear reports, presentations and visual data analysis.
