Full job description

Join our enthusiastic team in working with young people, helping them achieve and providing the Society with the pro-active approach to engagement. This post is for 30 -37.5 hours a week and is term time only.

St Ed’s is a provider of alternative vocational education for young people aged 11-18 (up to 25 with an EHCP).

St Eds recognises and specialises in supporting young people who may be disengaged from education and training and/or experiencing multiple barriers to successful employment and therefore considers the Attendance Officer to be a critical role in supporting engagement in a positive way.

Key Purpose

· To organise and carry out administrative duties relating to the Post-16 Study Programme and Schools Program

· To support all students in achieving their potential by taking a pro-active, enthusiastic and flexible approach in accordance with St Ed’s ethos and operating procedures, policies and corporate strategy.

Core responsibilities

· Monitoring daily attendance of Post-16 and School students, contacting students, parents, schools and professionals when absences occur.

· Tracking attendance of students, sending our Monthly attendance letters and weekly Letters of Concern.

· Tracking attendance and issuing 100% attendance certificates.

· Arranging attendance meetings with students, parents, schools and professionals to put support in place and encourage students to attend.

· Logging attendance on our CRM system Arbor.

General admin support including completing attendance letters, consent forms and logging information on our CRM system Arbor.
Updating and maintaining student and guardian information on Arbor.
Filing, management of papers, and electronic documentation.
Monitoring timekeeping of students and where necessary, putting students on ‘lateness contracts’, holding meetings with the student and guardians.
Recording, administration and allocation of discretionary and enhanced ESFA bursaries relating to the attendance of young people aged 16-19.
Updating and sending out the weekly timetable.
Working with the Behaviour Intervention Team to manage student’s behaviour on site and off site, in accordance with St Ed’s ethos and the Behaviour and Rewards Policy.
Any other duties as may be reasonably requested that you are suitably trained for and considered capable of carrying out.

Other responsibilities

· To ensure the health, safety and well-being of students, staff and visitors to the centre in accordance with St Ed’s operating policies

· To ensure that all staff and students are aware of and comply with St Ed’s safeguarding requirements and comply with St Ed’s safeguarding policies and practices laid down

· To undertake Continual Professional Development (CPD) some of which you may be required to undertake in your own time, ensuring that all vocational and teaching and learning knowledge is current and up to date

The post-holder may, from time to time be required to perform other duties than those outlined in the job description. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to this post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or level of responsibility entailed. The post-holder may, at times, be required to work outside of normal office hours or at weekends. Such variations would not in themselves justify the re-evaluation of the post.
