Clipper Contracting currently employs approx. 20 staff but is yet one of the UK’s largest payroll umbrella companies, paying around 4,000 workers weekly for the recruitment sector.
What we are looking for:
As Payroll Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. Your high attention to detail will help guarantee that all payroll outputs are produced and delivered correctly.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage all payroll-related inboxes, responding to clients and internal stakeholders professionally and within agreed timescales.
- Manage the accurate and timely upload of hours, ensuring correct worker identification, resolving outstanding/non-matching hours, monitoring agency compliance, and processing invoices where required.
- Process pay runs accurately, identifying any issues and ensuring relevant information is communicated to Account Managers where required.
- Ensure identified overpayments are managed and resolved promptly.
- Manage worker advances accurately, ensuring correct processing and recovery through subsequent pay runs, and promptly escalating any issues to Account Managers for resolution.
- Complete monthly PAYE and CIS reporting to HMRC.
- Complete all weekly reports and action associated email communications, including pension alerts, termination e-shots, and monthly self-employed reminders.
- Review and improve current payroll processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and suggesting effective solutions to the Payroll team.
- Provide cover and step up to lead payroll operations in the Payroll Manager’s absence.
Qualifications / Skills:
- 2 + years previous payroll experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
- High attention to detail with good organisational skills.
- Emphasis on ownership and problem-solving.
- Previous experience with payroll software systems would be beneficial.
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 9 to 4/A+ to C, including English Language and Mathematics.
